Winter Weather Sewing Advisory

"A special weather statement has been issued by the National Weather Service. A 5% chance of snow has been issued for the given viewing area - sometime between now and 2015. Little to no accumulation is expected with this impending storm. Begin implementing your southern weather plan of action immediately...Buy your milk and bread now. It is time to hunker down and wait out the storm."

All joking aside: IT. IS. DONE....FINALLY!!! Talk about procrastination at its finest....
When your two year old niece refers to the outfit as a 'Christmas dress,'
well - that's when the worries should commence...Yes, it has snowflakes...
And it is February....in the South....
Did you know Phil didn't see his shadow this year?
Which means, Spring is right around the corner {IF you take the word of a groundhog}.
And this piece has just been added to EA's wardrobe.
At least CL will reap the rewards of our tardiness - eventually!

**Would it surprise you to know we've still got a 'snowflake dress' for CL in the works?!?! With 23 days remaining in February, what we wouldn't give for a Leap Year!!!

Outfit / Fabric Specifications:
Patterns: Ellen McCarn, Beatiful Bishop {size: 18 month, shortened to a top}; Britches and Bloomers pants
Fabrics: Unknown Snowflake Fabric {Hobby Lobby}; Raspberry Corduroy

One of the best things about this bishop top was that a sewing reSEWlution was attempted: stitching with a different machine stitch. We went with the #19 button: the blind hem stitch....following Melissa's thorough tutorial as we sewed....
Our attempt still needs much practice / work before perfecting,
but this printed fabric gave us a great starting point for experimentation...
Now, about that snow....

  3. Darling little outfit! The little blurb at the beginning of the post aptly describes the mentality where I live. It's like the world is going to end if snow is forecast. And if it does actually snow...there's a gazillion accidents, a run on bread and milk, and non-stop coverage by the news channels.

  4. The shirt is adorable! I love smocking, but have yet to attempt it. Had to laugh about the Southern weather humor...so true.
