The Liebster Blog Award {translated: the Love Blog Award}

So, what is the Leibster Blog Award you ask?!?! *We had to look it up too, and here is what we found:

"The Liebster Blog Award is an award given by bloggers to up and coming bloggers, most of whom have less than 200 followers (or have been blogging for less than 6 months). It is to show newer bloggers that they are appreciated, and to help spread the word about new blogs. It was created to promote appreciation and recognition among the blog world. Liebster translates to “dearest” (or favorite/best) in German. It is also known as the Love Blog Award."

Pretty neat, huh? What an awesome honor....and a way to get to know one another a little bit better!
The Rules:
1. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
2. Answer the questions that the nominator set for you.

So, here we go:
11 random things about us:
1. We were both born on a Tuesday (technically, all of our immediate family shares this trait). And, as a further footnote, our birthdays are in order by months – each month having a family member’s birthday, April through August.
2. Our wardrobes are practically interchangeable, excluding our shoes.
3. Seasonal candy is our weakness.

4. One ‘drives’ the sewing machine…..one doesn’t….
5. We pride ourselves in exceptionally neat handwriting, however neither can write more than our own names in cursive print. And, speaking of print….. one of us is a lefty, and the other is a righty.

6. Our family has passed on the ‘gift of rhyme’ to us, and seldom has a Christmas {or birthday} gone by that poetry doesn’t rear its ugly head in gift form.
7. We are often mistaken on the phone for one another – even with immediate family members and close friends.
8. We love our diet coke!

9. We’d rather follow than lead, and are ‘behind the scenes’ sort of girls {making questionnaires like this extremely hard....}.
10. Both of us are early birds….NOT night owls….

11. Knock on wood, but neither of us have ever gotten a ticket OR broken a bone.


Our Questions from Jessica:
1. Why do you blog?

We began our blog as a timeline of events {and creations} for our nieces. Now, it is nice to know we aren’t talking / typing to ourselves!!
2. What are your top 3 must read blogs?
Okay – so we went with four!!

Probably Actually : we love Gail’s style, and her dialogue is hilarious

No Big Dill : beautiful, stunning photography as well as impeccable details within garments

Simple Simon and Co. : excellent writing (about sewing, and otherwise) and clean/crisp photography….oh, and their love of ‘vintage’ makes us smile…

Shwin and Shwin : great blog for free tutorials….and although Shauna has a large blog following, you feel like you are more of a name than a number. She is extremely personable,

giving her blog a more of a close-knit feel to it.

3. What is your favorite day of the week?
Isn’t Saturday everyone’s favorite day of the week!?!?!?
4. What is your guilty pleasure?
Unhealthy foods….you name it, we eat it…

5. What is the best costume you have worn?
Well, we don’t know if these were the best….but the most stealth would have to go to: Ashley was incognito as a robot, and Emily was unrecognizable to friends as a girl from the 50s {sporting our mom’s wig and cat glasses}
6. What room in the house do you most like to spend time in?
The dining room (aka: the sewing room / computer area room /etc)
7. What job have you been procrastinating?
An heirloom Easter dress for the niece (actually begun sewing it over a decade ago while taking an heirloom sewing class)

8. What song do you love to dance to?
We are not big dancers, although our sister broke out some “mad” Michael Jackson moves over Christmas….(*disclaimer: the niece does refer to the “Chicken Dance” as “Emmy’s song”)

9. If money were no object, where would you live?
We’re happy here….close to family, although a vacation wouldn’t be out of the question!
10. Do you have any special talents?
These might quantify as strange talents rather than special talents….Ashley can make her upper lip touch her nose, and Emily can impersonate the “Sand People” from Star Wars and the chef from the Muppets Show.
11. If you had one wish, what would it be?
